We support high performance building strategies and certifications that reduce building energy consumption. Our consultants provide the energy advice, modeling, and on-site verification needed to meet the new energy code requirements and reduce energy impacts.

Sameeksha Agrawal, CPHC

Building Science Specialist

Sameeksha completed her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on mechanical design at the University of Southern California. She has since developed a career in energy performance, with a background in solar installation. In 2024, she joined the Airtight team as a Passive House energy modeler, dedicated to assisting clients with sustainable building design.

Lia Douillet

HERS Rater

Lia has been a certified HERS rater since 2022 and is also certified as an ENERGY STAR and Passive House Verifier. Lia’s areas of expertise include 3D building modeling, renovations of existing buildings, and Enterprise Green Communities certification.  She holds a B.S. in Building & Construction Technology and an M.S. in Sustainable Building Systems from UMass Amherst.

Xena Dreyfuss

HERS Rater

Xena got their start in building science as an Energy Auditor for Community Action Pioneer Valley and completed their HERS Rater certification shortly after joining Airtight Energy Consulting in 2024. With a background in house remodeling and solar PV installation, Xena helps clients meet their home performance goals.  Xena is a certified BPI Quality Control Inspector and has a B.S. in Art Therapy from Lesley University.

Henry Helt

HERS Rater

Henry is a graduate of Western Washington University where he received a B.S. in Energy Science & Technology with minors in both Sustainable Design and Energy Policy. Henry completed his HERS Rater certification after joining Airtight Energy Consulting in 2024.  Henry's expertise includes thermal bridge modeling and HERS modeling of single-family homes and townhomes.

Akeo Maifeld-Carucci

Building Science Specialist

Akeo is driven to improve the ecological impact of our built environments through reductions in operational and embodied carbon and the consideration of whole life-cycle effects. His areas of expertise include ASHRAE Level II energy audits, ASHRAE energy modeling, monitoring-based commissioning, decarbonization, and whole-building LCA. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Harvard University and a M.S. in Architecture from University of Washington.

Aidan Mayer, CPHC

Building Science Specialist

Aidan is a passionate about reducing both operational and embodied carbon on high performance construction and renovation projects. He received his B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2021, and his M. Architecture from Northeastern University in 2024. After joining the team, Aidan has been working on Passive House multifamily projects and aids clients in achieving their sustainability goals.

Maggie Newey

Proposals & Communications Coordinator

Maggie is focused on supporting proposal development and communicating Airtight's impact. Her professional experience includes work as an arts administrator, fundraising consultant, and grants manager. With this interdisciplinary background, she supports building Airtight's network of clients and colleagues.

Mark Newey, CPHC, LEED AP

Managing Principal

Mark has nearly 25 years experience working to make buildings more energy efficient, including 17 years at the Center for EcoTechnology (CET). He holds certifications as a HERS Rater, Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC), Passive House Rater and Verifier, LEED AP Homes, and LEED Green Rater. Mark holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Penn State University, and has a minor in Engineering Leadership Development.

Alanna Ryan, LEED AP

HERS Rater

Alanna holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Design from Thomas Jefferson University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Roger Williams University, where she also minored in Sustainability Studies and Spanish. After joining Airtight Energy Consulting in 2025, she earned her HERS Rater Certification. Alanna specializes in energy modeling and consulting for single-family dwellings.

Matt Zarotny

Principal

Matt has over 12 years of energy efficiency consulting experience, including over 10 years as a HERS Rater at the Center for EcoTechnology (CET).  He holds certifications as a Home Energy Rater, Passive House verifier, and a Building Analyst with the Building Performance Institute. Matt holds a Masters in Management from Colorado Technical University and a BS in Geography from UMass Amherst.
